Calendar for April 25 Saint Basil the Confessor – Eastern Friday
A companion and martyr of Saint Procopius the Decapolis. Basil faithfully followed his teacher Procopius both in peace and in persecution. He suffered many torments from the iconoclasts. And when the iconoclasts perished, by God's Providence, Basil returned with Procopius to his monastery, where he spent a long time in fasting and prayer, and peacefully died in the year 747.
