Calendar for December 12 Saint Martyr Paramon
Prince Aquilinus, persecuting Christians in Bithynia in Asia, once captured 380 people and took them with him to the idol temple of the "god" Poseidon. There he forced them to offer sacrifice to the idol, but not one of them obeyed him. Just then, Paramon was passing by the temple. When he saw the crowd of bound people, he asked what was going on, and when he found out, he said: "Oh, how many innocent people does the prince want to slaughter because they do not bow down to his dead idols." And he continued on his way... But the prince sent servants to catch up with him and kill him. The servants caught him and first pierced his tongue with a thorn, then stripped him naked and stabbed his whole body. Thus, Saint Paramon gave up his soul to the Lord. Then the 370 martyrs were also beheaded with the sword. They all suffered for Christ in the year 250.
