Calendar for December 27 Holy Martyrs Thyrsus, Leucius and Callinicus
During the reign of Emperor Decius, in Caesarea Bithynia, Christians were being killed by his hegemon Cumbricius. Leucius stood before him and denounced him. They immediately threw him to torture and then cut him with the sword. Then Thyrsus also stood before the judge and said that he was a Christian. They beat him and threw him into prison, but the Lord healed him and opened the prison doors for him. He went to Bishop Philae of Caesarea, who baptized him. They captured him again and tortured him severely. The saint destroyed many idols by the power of prayer. Seeing this miracle, the idolatrous priest Callinicus also converted to the faith of Christ, and they cut him with the sword. They put Thyrsus in a wooden box to be sawed with a saw, but the power of God did not allow them to do so. Then Saint Thyrsus rose from the coffin, prayed to God, and gave up his soul to Him.
Holy Martyrs Philemon, Apollonius, Arius, and others. Christmas Fast.
