Calendar for February 4 Saint Apostle Timothy
One of the Seventy Apostles, born in Lystra of Lycaonia. His father was Greek and his mother Jewish. Timothy first met the Apostle Paul in Lystra. He was a witness when Paul healed a man lame from birth. Later, he was an almost constant companion of the Apostle Paul: in Achaia, Macedonia, Italy and Spain. The Apostle Paul wrote him two epistles. After the martyrdom of the Apostle Paul, he went to the Holy Evangelist and Apostle John. When John was exiled to Patmos, he remained in Ephesus where he became a bishop. He was killed by the Gentiles around the year 93. His relics were later transferred to Constantinople, to the Church of the Holy Apostles, to the tombs of the Holy Evangelist Luke and the Holy Apostle Andrew the First-Called.
Venerable Martyr Anastasia.
