Calendar for February 5 Holy Hieromartyr Clement of Ancyra
Born in 258 in Ancyra, to a pagan father and a Christian mother. His mother Euphrosyne died when he was 12 years old. She predicted his martyrdom. He was elected Bishop of Ancyra when he was 20 years old. In his youth, he acquired the wisdom of an elder and tamed his body through abstinence. He ate only bread and greens. He spent 28 years in torture and in prison. When Diocletian brought him before him, he placed the torture device on one side and the treasures and decorations on the other and told him to choose. Clement despised all the emperor's treasures. Piece by piece, his flesh was torn off so that his bones turned white. He was beheaded by soldiers in the church of Ancyra in 312. The miracles of Saint Clement are countless.
