Calendar for January 21 Venerable George the Chozevit
A native of Cyprus. His older brother, Iraklid, went to the Holy Land and became a monk at the Kalamon Monastery. After the death of his parents, George went to his brother, and the latter took him, at a young age, to the Chozev Monastery, where he became a monk. His elder brother struck him once, and his hand immediately withered, and George healed it. When this miracle became known, he fled to his brother Iraklid, with whom he lived in great asceticism. The two of them resurrected a young child. When, in deep old age, Iraklid passed away, George returned to the Chozev Monastery and settled in a nearby cell, where he lived in complete poverty, eating dried scraps from the monastery table every two or three days and praying to God constantly. He lived in the 7th century.
