Calendar for January 7 The Nativity of Christ - Christmas
When 9 months had passed since the Annunciation in Nazareth, in the Bethlehem cave, on the night between Saturday and Sunday, the Most Holy Virgin gave birth to the Savior of the world, the Lord Jesus Christ. And having given birth to Him without pain, just as she had conceived Him without sin, from the Holy Spirit, she herself wrapped Him in linen cloths, worshiped Him as God and laid Him in a manger. Then the righteous Joseph also worshiped Him, then the shepherds from the field who heard a multitude of angels singing: “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men” (Luke 2:14), then the three wise men from the East. Thus, after His many prefigurations and foreshadowings, fulfilling the Old Testament prophecies, He, the King of kings, appeared for the salvation of the human race, which His servants could not do.
