This day celebrates the miracle of her relics, which was revealed at the Fourth Ecumenical Council. The occasion for this Council was the heresy of Patriarch Diodorus and Archimandrite Eutychius that in the Lord there were not two natures, divine and human, but only one, divine. Since arguments could not resolve the dispute, Patriarch Anatoly of Constantinople proposed that both the Orthodox and heretics write their confessions of faith and place them in the ark with the relics of Saint Euthymia. After all three days spent in fasting and prayer, when they opened the ark, they found the Orthodox confession in Saint Euthymia's right hand, and the heretical one at her feet. From the relics of Saint Euthymius, blood occasionally flowed, which helped the needy.
