Calendar for July 28 Holy Martyrs Cyricus and Julita
Julita was of noble birth and lived in Iconium. As a young woman, she gave birth to a son, Cyricus, whom she immediately baptized. When he was three years old, she taught him the faith and prayer. During the time of Diocletian's persecution of Christians, Julita took refuge with her son in Seleucia, but there they were captured and brought before the Judge. Julita courageously confessed Christ. The Judge, in order to sway her, began to caress Cyricus, but the child began to scratch him with his hands and shout: "I am also a Christian." The furious Judge threw him to the ground and kicked him down the stone steps. The child gave up his soul to God, to whom the mother thanked for granting her son the crown of martyrdom. And she, after much torture, was beheaded with a sword. They suffered in 304. Their relics are still miraculous today.
