Calendar for June 16 Saint Dimitri, Tsarevich of Russia
Dimitri Ivanovich was the legitimate son of the Russian Tsar Ivan the Terrible, without inheritance rights. He was killed in 1591 in Uglich, when he was eight years old, on the orders of the power-hungry Boris Godunov. His death, as a result of a knife wound, was presented as an accident. After his death, he appeared to a monk and prophesied that a false Dimitri would appear, who would cause the death of the murderer Boris Godunov, which happened. It was a time of great suffering for the Russian people. Countless miracles occurred at the grave of the murdered Tsarevich. The relics of Tsarevich Dimitri, fifteen years after his repose, were discovered whole and incorrupt, solemnly transferred to Moscow and buried in the Church of the Holy Archangel Michael.
Holy Martyr Lucilian and others with him. Hieromartyr Lucian.
