Calendar for June 29 Saint Tikhon of Amathus
Born in Amathus on Cyprus, of pious and Christ-loving parents. The purity of his life and zeal for Orthodoxy recommended him to be elected Bishop of Amathus, after the repose of Blessed Memnonius. At that time, there were still many pagans in Cyprus, and Saint Tikhon converted unbelievers to the faith of Christ with apostolic zeal. He worked miracles from an early age. His father was a baker. Whenever he left him alone in the shop, he distributed bread to the poor. Once his father rebuked him, and he prayed to God, and their granary was filled to the brim. Another time he planted a dry vine shoot, and it grew green and bore fruit. After long labor in the vineyard of the Lord, he moved to His Kingdom around the year 425.
Holy Martyrs Tigris and Eutropius.
