Calendar for March 28 - Holy Martyr Agapius and others
The holy martyrs Agapius, Publius, Timolaus, Romilus, two Alexanders and two Dionysius, suffered from Prince Urban, during the time of Emperor Diocletian, in Caesarea Palestine. All but Agapius were very young, not yet Christians, nor had they ever been baptized with water. Their baptism was with blood. These 7 young men watched Christians being tortured, in the fire, on the gallows, how they were thrown to the beasts and with what patience they endured those torments, and they were inflamed with zeal for Christ, they tied their hands upside down, and they went to Urban and said to him: "And we are Christians". They were joined by a prominent citizen of that city, who had already died for Christ and who inflamed their love for Christ even more, Agapius. They were cut down in 303.
