Calendar for March 29 Saint Apostle Aristobulus
One of the Seventy, brother of the Holy Apostle Barnabas, born in Cyprus. He accompanied the Apostle Paul and traveled with him to many countries, preaching the Gospel. The Apostle Paul mentions him in the Epistle to the Romans: “Greet those who are of Aristobulus” (16:10). He was with the Apostle when he wrote the Epistle to the Romans, and therefore he greets his relatives. The Apostle Paul appointed him Bishop of Britain. From that wild, wicked people, Aristobulus suffered great torments, misery and malice. They beat him, dragged him through the streets, mocked him. Nevertheless, by the power of God's grace, this holy man enlightened that people, baptized them in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, built churches, and ordained priests and deacons. Finally, he peacefully reposed in the Lord.
Holy Martyr Sabinus. Hieromartyrs Trophimus and Tal. Easter Lent.
