Calendar for November 16 Restoration of the Church of the Holy Great Martyr Georgi - Đurđić
On this day, the transfer of the relics of St. George from Nicomedia to Lida Palestine, where he died during the reign of Emperor Diocletian, is celebrated. Before he gave his soul to the Lord, St. George asked his servant to take his body to Palestine, where his mother was born and where he had a large property that he gave to the poor. The servant did so. During the time of Emperor Constantine the Great, devout Christians built a wonderful temple dedicated to St. George in Lida. During the consecration of that temple, the saint's relics were transferred to it. Countless miracles have occurred from the relics of Saint Gergios the Victorious, the great martyr of Christ. There is no number of his apparitions, in sleep and waking life, to those who call on him for help.
