Calendar for November 26 Saint John Chrysostom – (Christmas Gifts)
Born in Antioch in 354. He was baptized by Patriarch Meletius of Alexandria. When he became a monk, he wrote the book “On the Priesthood”. Then the apostles John and Peter appeared to him and prophesied a great ministry, but also a great suffering. When Patriarch Flavian ordained him, everyone saw a white dove above his head. He was Patriarch of Constantinople for 6 years, and then he was a missionary to the Celts and Scythians. He suppressed simony, wrote a special act of the Holy Liturgy, interpreted the Holy Scriptures. He left many precious books of his sermons to the Church. He slandered Empress Eudokia, and she exiled him twice. He gave up his soul to the Lord in exile, in the town of Komani in Armenia. His body is in the Vatican, and his head is in Moscow.
Holy Martyrs Antoninus, Nicephorus, Germanus, and Manetho. Venerable Martyr Damascene.
