At the time of Emperor Antoninus, he was a bishop in Hierapolis Phrygia. Almost all the inhabitants of this city were pagans, and Saint Averkius diligently prayed to God to enlighten and enlighten them. During an idol celebration, he burst into their temple and broke all the idols. Three angry young men rushed at him, throwing foam and howling. The blind mother of the antipater of that area, Publius, was restored to sight by Saint Avercius, so they were both baptized. In old age, he healed the insane emperor's daughter in Rome. The Lord appeared to him several times. He died at a very old age in Yerapolje, at the end of the 2nd century.
