Calendar for October 2 Holy Martyrs Trophimus, Sabbatius and Dorymedon
During the reign of Emperor Probus, in the 3rd century, the Christians Trophimus and Sabbatius came to Antioch. At that time, in Daphne near Antioch, they were offering sacrifices to Apollo. When they saw that the newcomers were not participating in the sacrifice, they reported them to the governor of Antioch, Atticus, who brought them to trial. Since they did not want to deny Christ, he put them to torture. First, he tortured Trophimus and then sent him to Phrygia to the torturer Dionysius. Then he put Sabbatius to torture, they beat him, tortured him and scraped him with iron until the flesh was stripped from his bones. In these tortures, Sabbatius died. Trophimus was visited and served by Senator Dorymedon, a secret Christian, in prison with Dionysius. The torturer threw them both to the beasts and finally beheaded them with a sword.
