Calendar for October 21 Venerable Pelagia
Born in Antioch, of Gentile parents. God endowed him with great physical beauty. She made a fortune by fornicating. Once, she stopped by the church of St. Julian and heard Bishop Non's sermon about the Last Judgment, and she was so shaken that she was disgusted with herself. With a great sense of sin and fear of God, she asks Saint Non to baptize her. Her godmother was blessed Romana, a deaconess of that church, who established her in the Christian faith. Soon, she distributed her enormous wealth to the poor and went to Jerusalem, where, as a monk of Pelagia, she shut herself up in a cell on Jeleonska Gora. After 3 years of hard work, she was visited by the deacon of St. Non, Jacob. After 3 days she calmed down. She surrendered her soul to the Lord around the year 461.
Venerable Taisa.
