A native of Caesarea in Palestine. He was married and had 4 daughters, all vowed virgins for the sake of Christ and endowed by God with the gift of prophecy. When the apostles were choosing deacons, they also chose Philip, who served the poor and widows with great zeal. During the persecution of Christians in Jerusalem, he took refuge in Samaria, where he preached the Gospel and performed many miracles: he cast out demons, healed the sick… Seeing the miracles of the Holy Apostle Philip, the famous Simon Volch was also baptized. Saint Philip also baptized the eunuch of Empress Candace. Then the angel of God instantly transferred him to Azotus, where he also preached the Gospel and baptized many. Then he was appointed bishop of Tralles. He gave up his soul to the Lord peacefully, in a deep old age.
