Calendar for October 27 Venerable Mother Paraskeva
Born in the city of Epivat, between Silinavrija and Constantinople, of Serbian origin. Her parents were wealthy and pious. In addition to her, they had a son, Euthymius, who later became the famous Bishop of Madita. After the death of her parents, the virgin Petka, eager for asceticism for the sake of Christ, went to Constantinople, then to the Jordan Desert, where she asceticized until old age. Then an angel of God appeared to her and told her to return to her homeland. She lived in Epivat for two more years, in constant fasting and prayer, and then she gave up her soul to the Lord. She reposed in the 11th century. Her miraculous relics were transferred to Constantinople, then to Trnovo, then again to Constantinople, then to Belgrade. They are now in Romania, in the city of Iasi. In Belgrade there is the miraculous water of St. Petka.
The Holy Martyrs Nazarius, Gervasius and Protasius.
