On the occasion of the 90th anniversary of the martyrdom of King Alexander I Karađorđević, His Eminence the Metropolitan of Šumadija Mr. Jovan served on October 9, 2024 in the Church of the Holy Great Martyr Georgi in Oplenac, the Holy Bishop's Liturgy and the memorial service for the Knight King Alexander.

In addition to a large number of faithful, the Liturgy was also attended by Crown Prince Alexander, Prince Filip and Princess Danica, Prince Mihailo and Princess Ljubica, as well as ministers in the Government of the Republic of Serbia, Mr. Nikola Selaković, Mr. Nemanja Starović and Mr. Dejan Ristic. Metropolitan Jovan then served a memorial service for the blessed King Alexander.

At noon, a state ceremony marking the sad anniversary followed, which was attended by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Serbia, Mr. Miloš Vučević, who opened the exhibition dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the assassination of King Alexander. Members of the Karađorđević family, together with the prime minister, then unveiled the monument - a bust of King Alexander, which was consecrated by Metropolitan Jovan of Šumadija.
