Review of the 330th issue of Svetigora: Go into all the world and preach
For the birthday of the Church, the Holy Trinity, the 330th issue of Svetigora, the model for faith, culture and education of the Metropolis of Montenegro and the Littoral, has been published. The set of appropriate holiday topics opens with a sermon on Pentecost by St. Gregory Palamas, followed by a text by Archpriest Slobodan Lukić "The Divine Liturgy of Pentecost", then an interview with Archpriest Jovan Plamenac on the occasion of 20 years since the renovation of the Church of the Holy Trinity in Rumija "The Litmus Paper of Montenegrin Society". The great feast of the Ascension of the Lord, which preceded Pentecost, is dedicated to the teaching of St. Demetrius of Rostov.
The magnificent celebration of the feast of St. Basil of Ostrog in Ostrog is witnessed by the report "All the ends of the earth honor him". “Saint Basil is the one who defeated the powers of heaven through fasting and prayer,” says MSr Rade Bulajić in a speech delivered at the academy on the occasion of the celebration of the Faculty of Theology in Foča, which our readers can read in its entirety. Dr. Vasilj Jovović presents interesting facts about Saint Basil and Ostrog, according to the writings of Archdeacon Filip Radičević.
May also marks the feast of the Holy Brothers of Thessaloniki, so Svetigora published the speech of Bishop Jovan of Pakrac and Slavonia, “What do we Serbs offer to the Holy Brothers of Thessaloniki,” which he delivered on the eve of the feast of Saints Cyril and Methodius in Thessaloniki this year.
Mr Aleksandar Vujović introduces readers to the “most miraculous Serbian woman of the 20th century” – the venerable martyr Stefanida of Skadar, and religious teacher Slavica Orlandić recalls the lives of Saint John Vladimir and Kosara, in the monastery of Theodora.
Svetigora broadcast the sermon of Metropolitan Joanikije of Montenegro and the Littoral “Such personalities are rarely born” from the commemoration of the blessed Patriarch Gavrilo Dožić in the Cetinje Monastery, this year on the anniversary of his repose.
The rich and diverse content of Svetigora was complemented by texts about the liberation of Dachau, about Lješkopolje and its cultural heritage, about the artist Anastas Bocarić, about the suffering of the Serbian language, about the young Podgorica gymnasium “St. Sava”, as well as poetry, this time by Radmila Knežević and short narrative prose by deacon Pavle Lješković. There are also the regular columns Archive and Chronicle of the Metropolis. And, of course, the memory of those members of the Church who recently left us – Mother Dorothea and the nun Matrona.
