SAVINDAN CELEBRATED IN KOTOR

After the Holy Liturgy and the cutting of the Slava cake on the occasion of Savindan, the celebration of the Serbian singing society "Unity" (1839) Kotor, on the square in front of the churches of St. Nicholas and St. Luke in the Old Town, the Kotor City Music performed a hymn to Saint Sava.

The hierarchal governor of Kotor-Tivat, Archpriest Stavrophor Nemanja Krivokapić, addressing the gathered people, said that the song "Let us sing, let us sing, joyfully to Sava", which the faithful sing today as in previous years, continues the tradition of joy and unity in the days after the great holidays of Christmas and Epiphany. “

These are days in which believers are reminded of the coming of God among people, the God who created the world and man, and who came to save humanity, defeat death and leave the Church as the path of salvation. Through the Church, saints, God's pleasers, whose lives are an example of how people today can find their own path of salvation, following in their faith, sacrifice and love,'' emphasized Fr. Nemanja, reported Radio Kotor.

Speaking of Saint Sava, he emphasized that the greatest among the ancestors is being celebrated, a person whose life and work still have a strong message today.

,,Although he was a prince and lived at court, Saint Sava renounced worldly power and chose the monastic path. However, he did not keep the peace of Mount Athos life for himself, he returned to his people in order to pass on the knowledge, faith and experience he had acquired to others, taking care not to only about his own salvation, but about the salvation of the entire people. That is why he is remembered as an enlightener and peacemaker, a man who strived for reconciliation, harmony and mutual respect, teaching that love for God is shown through love for others and recognizing God in every neighbor,'' he explained, adding that this message is strongly recognized in Kotor even today, because on the same day the feasts of Saint Sava and Saint Tryphon are celebrated, bringing together Orthodox and Catholics in a spirit of unity. In this way, as Father Nemanja concluded, Kotor confirms that the legacy of Saint Sava has lived on for centuries, a life in peace, harmony and love, values that still adorn this city today.

The choir of the Serbian Singing Society "Jedinstvo" under the leadership of Ivana Krivokapić participated in the celebration program, performing the Kotor hymn to Saint Sava "O Serbian Young Innocent Child" and then the official one, Mokranjčeva.

After the ceremony in front of the Church of St. Nicholas, the City Music, together with the citizens, welcomed the beginning of the Tripundan festivities. At exactly 12 o'clock, Little Admiral Krsto Tonija Petrović from the Cathedral of St. Tripun recited the lodės - praises to St. Tripun, the patron saint of the city of Kotor, which were recited for the 1,217th time this year.
