SUCCESSFUL PERFORMANCE OF THE POLISH CHURCH MUSIC ENSEMBLE “WARSLAVIA” IN KOTOR

Organized by the Serbian Orthodox Church Municipality of Kotor and the Serbian Choir Society “Jedinstvo” (1839) Kotor, a concert by the Polish Church Music Ensemble “Warslavia” from Warsaw was held last night in the Church of St. Nicholas in the Kotor Old Town.

Conducted by Miloš Bogić, the program included Orthodox sacred music by Polish and Serbian composers: Pavel Konkol, Dmitri Bortniansky, Pavel Lukashevsky, Sergei Rachmaninov, Isaiah the Srbin, Marko Tajčević, Irina Bogdanović, Romuald Twardowski, Karol Szymanowski, Stanislav Binički and Pavel Česnokov.

“The Varslavija Choir operates alongside the Orthodox Music Center in Warsaw, next to the Metropolis of Warsaw, the autocephalous Polish Orthodox Church. In the choir, we try to, since I am half Serb, cherish the Serbian tradition in Poland. This year, thanks to the existence of the Polish Institute in Belgrade, we had the opportunity to come to the Music Edict Festival in Niš,” Miloš Bogić, conductor of the Varslavija Church Music Ensemble, told us.
The invitation to hold a concert in Montenegro came from the Serbian Singing Society Jedinstvo from Kotor.
"With the material of Polish and Serbian spiritual music, we have come to show the existence of Polish Orthodox art in Serbia and Montenegro. Here in Poland, we are trying to show the spiritual heritage of other countries. This is also an opportunity for us to visit the city of Kotor, Montenegro, to get to know your SPD Jedinstvo better, with which we have only been in an online connection so far," said Bogić, announcing the deepening of friendship and cooperation with the Kotor choir.
At the end, the choir sang the Hymn to St. Sava, the patron and glory of the SPD Jedinstvo (1839) Kotor, but also to the holiday on which our interlocutor, the conductor of the Church Music Ensemble "Varslavija", Miloš Bogić, was born, who said that he feels it is his duty to be the ambassador of St. Sava in Poland.
