"Vjeronauka.me" – A New Digital Platform from the Metropolis Catechetical Board
The Catechetical Board of the Metropolitanate of Montenegro and the Littoral has developed a new digital platform, "Vjeronauka.me." This platform will provide students, religious education teachers, and the Catechetical Board with easier access to educational materials and enable more efficient monitoring of religious education schools.
Priest Jovica Vukasović, a member of the Catechetical Board, spoke to Radio "Svetigora" about the significance and capabilities of the new platform, highlighting that its primary purpose is to make the materials used in religious education classes accessible beyond the classroom itself.
"Vjeronauka.me" will serve as a type of electronic class register while also acting as a repository for educational content used in lessons. This will allow students who missed a class for valid reasons to catch up on the material, while giving teachers a clearer overview of student attendance and participation.
The platform will be optimized for use on both computers and mobile phones, and all students enrolled in religious education schools will have access to it. It will enable religious education teachers to maintain student records, log activities, and monitor progress more easily, while the Catechetical Board will receive more precise and detailed data on the operations of religious education schools.
"Indeed, this is something new for our Metropolis. I can safely say it is something new that we are just beginning to encounter. We are all eager to see how it will work in practice," said Fr. Jovica.
The introduction of the platform will be accompanied by professional training for the teachers. As Fr. Jovica noted, the Catechetical Board strives to continuously improve teachers' knowledge and skills by organizing seminars and professional training sessions covering teaching methodology, blended learning, and the use of various instructional aids.
A presentation of the platform for teachers will be held at the "Saint Sava" Orthodox Gymnasium, where computer classrooms will be used to provide hands-on experience with the new system's capabilities.
A special aspect of the platform is its missionary dimension. At a time when children and young people spend a significant portion of their time online, the Catechetical Board’s idea is to create a virtual space where they can find content that does not distance them from God, but rather encourages them to reflect on faith, life within the Church, the reading of Holy Scripture, and the spiritual life.
"Since students already spend so much time on the internet, [we wanted them] to have the opportunity to find things that will truly bring them closer to God," said Fr. Jovica, adding that this opens up another path enabling children to journey toward the Lord.
The platform was developed in collaboration with the software company "Codeus," whose team handled the technical implementation and tailored the platform to the needs of religious education teachers and students. Special attention was paid to ensuring the interface is simple, accessible, and engaging for children and young people.
"Vjeronauka.me" thus represents a new step in the digitalization of the Catechetical Board’s work and the Metropolis’s religious education schools, as well as an effort to utilize the modern digital space as a tool for education, mission work, and bringing young people closer to the life of the Church.
