ALL SAINTS' SUNDAY IN THE CHURCH OF ST. NICHOLAS IN KOTOR

Protopriest Nenad Kalem and Deacon Mihajlo Lazarević served the Holy Liturgy today, on the first Sunday after Pentecost – All Saints' Sunday, on the feast of the Third Finding of the Head of Saint John the Baptist and the Holy Martyrs of Piva, in the Church of St. Nicholas in the Old Town of Kotor.

The members of the SPD Jedinstvo choir responded with God-pleasing singing, and the congregation who were preparing received Holy Communion.

On the feast of the Holy Apostles Carpus and Alphaeus and the Holy Martyrs of Zvornik and Tuzla, the Peter's Fast begins tomorrow.

All Saints' Sunday (Greek: Αγίων Πάντων), the first Sunday after Pentecost (Whitsun), dedicated to All Saints, as the "harvest of the Spirit of God" and the "fruits of Divine grace" sent to people on the day of Pentecost. Since not all canonized Saints have their days designated for celebration in the calendar, and especially since the names of all those glorified by the Lord are not known, the Church established this holiday.
This holiday ends the period of the Flower Triodion and begins the ordinary period of the year, when divine services are performed according to the Octave and the Menaion. From the Monday after All Saints' Sunday, the Petrine or Apostolic Lent begins, which serves as a preparation for the great holiday in honor of the Holy and First Apostles Peter and Paul.
