Bishop Paisje led the procession in Tivat: The heart of our people is the Church and our Saints
As part of the traditional event "In the light of Christ's Resurrection - Bokelje to Saint Sava and the Prevlaka Martyrs", tonight, May 10, His Eminence Bishop Paisje of Diocletia, with the clergy and monks, led the procession with the relics of the Holy Prevlaka Martyrs in Tivat.
The procession moved from the Church of Saint Sava to the city waterfront Pina, where the relics of the Holy Prevlaka Martyrs, which were transported by boat from the Miholjska Prevlaka Monastery, were solemnly welcomed. After that, the procession with the relics of the Holy Martyrs of Prevlaka passed through the streets of Tivat and returned to the Church of Saint Sava, where Vespers was served.
His Holiness the Bishop of Diocletian began his speech after the Vespers service by recalling the 50th Psalm of the Prophet David, in which he says in one of his addresses to the Lord, even at a time when both the sacrifices of purification and the sacrifices of thanksgiving were being offered to God in the Tabernacle of the Covenant: You have no regard for burnt offerings; a sacrifice to God is a broken spirit; a broken and humble heart God will not reject.
“He wants to say in this way that those who offered these sacrifices, if they did not offer them with all their hearts, with sincere love for God, that they mean nothing to God, because they are unnecessary to God. But He needs the human heart, which a person voluntarily gives to the Lord with his own will to serve Him and fulfill His will. And that human heart is the center of his being and moves the entire body and gives a certain direction to every life, to each of us. That is why it is said in another place that people look at the face, i.e. people look at what is external, and God looks at the human heart. Therefore, what is inside and what is the essence and center of every being,” Bishop Paisius spoke.
In his words, when we talk about the heart of our people, if we look behind us, we will see that the heart of our Serbian people was the Church and our Saints, which is why all those who did not mean us well, first targeted our heart, our Church, shrines and holy relics.
"This is what these holy relics that are here before us and that have passed in this holy procession to bless this people and this city tell us and testify. And this is certainly what today's holiday testifies to us when we celebrate our Holy Father Sava and remember the event when his holy relics were burned at Vračar. In this way, we and our ancestors who came before us show what our heart is and to whom we have given our hearts and to whom we have dedicated our hearts. Therefore, in the end, we should remember those words of the Holy King Solomon who says: Son, the purpose of all that is guarded, guard your heart, for in it is life. So we, dear brothers and sisters, should also guard our national heart, but to guard the heart of each of us so that it is pure, undefiled and always looks to God and always strives for Him," said His Eminence Bishop Paisius of Diocletia.
In addition to a large number of residents of this city, the procession included the Mayor of the Municipality of Tivat Željko Komnenović and the President of the Municipal Assembly of Tivat, MA Miljan Marković.
The gathering "In the Light of Christ's Resurrection - Boka to Saint Sava and the Martyrs of Prevlaka" ended at the Tivat Cultural Center with a gathering of Orthodox choirs from Boka.
The spiritual gathering of Orthodox Boka was organized by the Metropolitanate of Montenegro and the Littoral, the Church Municipality of Tivat and the Temple of Saint Sava in Tivat.
