Calendar for April 28 Holy Apostles Aristarchus, Pudus and Trophimus – Ash Monday
Saint Aristarchus, mentioned in the Acts of the Apostles (19:29) and the Holy Apostle Paul (Col. 4:10; Phil. 23), was a bishop in Apamea in Syria. He is also celebrated on January 4, together with all the holy Seventy Apostles, and on September 27, with the Apostles Mark and Zeno. Saint Pudus, mentioned by the Holy Apostle Paul (2 Tim. 4:21), was a prominent Roman citizen. Pudus' house in Rome was first a refuge for the chief apostles, Peter and Paul, and later turned into a church called the Shepherd's Church. It is said that Saint Peter himself performed his ministry there. Saint Trophimus, mentioned in the Acts of the Apostles (20:4) and the Holy Apostle Paul (2 Tim. 4:20), was from Asia, from Ephesus (Acts 21:29), and accompanied the Apostle Paul on his evangelical journey.
