Calendar for August 11 Holy Martyr Callinicus
A native of Cilicia. Raised in the Christian spirit from childhood, when he grew up he left everything and went to preach the Gospel. In Ancyra, he was captured by the pagan prince Sacerdon, who, after great torture, put him in iron sandals with nails on the inside and ordered him to be driven to the city of Gangra. He did not dare to torture him any longer or execute him in Ancyra, because seeing Callinicus' suffering and perseverance, many converted to the faith of Christ. Along the way, the soldiers became thirsty, but there was no water anywhere. Saint Callinicus prayed to God and brought water out of a stone. In Gangra, they threw him into a red-hot furnace. When the fire was extinguished, they found his body lifeless, but unharmed by the fire. Saint Callinicus suffered for Christ around the year 250.
Holy Martyr Seraphim. Holy Martyr Theodotia. Holy Martyr Eustathius of Mtskheta. Hieromartyr Luke of Crmni.
