Born in Cappadocia of pious parents Basil and Eudokia. He was an officer in the army of Emperor Theophilus. Keeping himself chaste, he avoided talking to any woman except his mother. He was merciful to the poor, diligent in praying to God. He avoided entertainment and idle talk. The emperor appointed him the Duke of Cappadocia, but already at the age of 33 he died. A mentally disturbed man was healed as soon as he touched the saint's tomb, a demented child rose... After 18 months, the mother of Saint Eudokim opened his tomb and found his body alive, without any sign of decay. His relics were transferred to Constantinople to a new church dedicated to the Most Holy Theotokos, built by the parents of Saint Eudoxus.
