Calendar for August 19 Transfiguration of the Lord
In the third year of His preaching on earth, the Lord Jesus Christ spoke to His disciples more and more often about His imminent suffering, but also about His glory after His suffering on the cross. So that the disciples would not be completely weakened by the announcement of His suffering and would not fall away from Him, the Lord partially showed them His Divine glory. Therefore, He took with Him Peter, James and John and with them went out to Tabor at night, where He was transfigured before them: “and His face shone like the sun, and His garments became white as light” (Matt. 17:2). And Moses and Elijah, the great Old Testament prophets, appeared next to Him. The Lord showed His disciples His Divine power many times, and on Tabor He also showed them His Divine nature.
