After the Crucifixion of the Lord, the Holy Mother of God continued to live with Saint John the Theologian. She spent most of the time until her death in Jerusalem. In her old age, she often prayed to the Lord at the place of Ascension to take her as soon as possible. Archangel Gabriel appeared to her and told her that she would rest in 3 days. She wished to see all the apostles and they all miraculously gathered, except for the apostle Thomas. Then she rested peacefully, without any pain. The apostles buried her in the tomb of Saints Joachim and Anna, in the Garden of Gethsemane. On the third day, the apostle Thomas also arrives. When they opened the grave to kiss the body of the Most Pure, there was no body inside, only shrouds. It is assumed that the Blessed Virgin Mary lived for more than 60 years.
