Calendar for August 6 Saint Great Martyr Christina
Daughter of the imperial governor Urban, an idolater, from the city of Tyre. Until the age of 11, she knew nothing about Christ. She was beautiful and her father locked her up on the top of a tower, where he arranged everything for her to live a comfortable life. But her young soul sought God. And God sent her an angel who crossed herself with the sign of the cross and taught her the knowledge of God. Then she broke the idols in her room, and her father threw her into prison so that in the morning she would be beheaded. But that night, suddenly, Urban died. The torture of the holy virgin was continued by the governors Dion and Julian. Dion fell dead among the people, and Julian cut off her chest and tongue. Saint Christina took her tongue, threw it in his face, and he became blind. Finally, they cut her down with a sword. She suffered in the 3rd century.
