He often spoke with an angel, face to face, as a man speaks with a friend. At the same time, it happened that other people also heard the voice of the angel, but none of them deigned to see his face. He prophesied what the angel announced to him. He cried out against the ungrateful people of Israel and against the lawless priests. Five hundred years before Christ, he prophesied the coming and ministry of John the Baptist. He is, mainly, a prophet of the Day of Judgment. He passed away young to God and was buried near his ancestors. After him, until John the Baptist, there were no more prophets in Israel.
