The last of the prophets in time. He was born after the return of the Jews from the Babylonian captivity. The people called him an angel. He was unusually beautiful and pure in soul. He often spoke with an angel, face to face, as a man speaks with a friend. At the same time, it happened that other people also heard the voice of the angel, but none of them deigned to see his face. He prophesied what the angel announced to him. He cried out against the ungrateful people of Israel and against the lawless priests. Five hundred years before Christ, he prophesied the coming and ministry of John the Baptist. He is, mainly, the prophet of the Day of the Last Judgment. He appeared to God young and was buried near his ancestors. After him, until John the Baptist, there were no more prophets in Israel.
