Calendar for July 1 - Holy Martyrs Leontius, Hypatius and Theodulus.
Roman Duke in Tripolis, a native of Jelade. Governor Hadrian sent an army to capture Leontius. On the way, the leader of the detachment, Hypatia, fell ill, to whom an angel of God appeared and said to him: "You will be healed if you shout three times with all your soldiers: God of Leontius, help me." That's what Ipatie did as well. The soldier Theodul was particularly delighted with this. Hypatius and Theodulus hastened ahead, Leontius received them gently and expounded his faith in Christ. On Tuesday, dew fell from the clouds on the two of them, and Leontius said "In the name of the Holy Trinity, the Father, the Sinai of the Holy Spirit." Hadrian ordered Hypatia and Theodulus to be beheaded with axes, and Leontius' whole body was covered with wounds, and finally they knocked him to the ground and beat him to death. They died in the year 73.
