Calendar for July 19 - Venerable Sisoye the Great
Egyptian, disciple of Saint Anthony the Great. After the death of his teacher, he settled on the mountain called Antonijeva, where St. Anthony used to do penance. Through hard work, he tamed himself so much that he became as innocent as a lamb, and God gave him the great grace to heal the sick, cast out demons, and raise the dead. When he was asked how to achieve humility, the saint answered: "When someone practices recognizing every person as better than himself, that is how he acquires humility." He spent 60 years in the desert. Before his death, his face shone like the sun. The monks stood around and admired. And when he let out his soul, the whole chamber smelled. Saint Sisoje gave his soul to the Lord in 429, at a very old age.
Holy Martyrs Marin and Martha with their sons: Avdifax and Habakkuk, priest Valentinus, Kirin, Asterius and many others. Conversion of the relics of St. Juliana the Virgin.
