Calendar for July 29 - Priest Martyr Antinogenes
He was a bishop in Sevastia, in Armenia. He lived in a monastery near the city, with 10 of his students. During the persecution under Emperor Diocletian, the wicked torturer Philomarchus came to Sevastia and killed many Christians. When he caught Antinogenes, with his disciples, he told him to sacrifice to idols, so that he would not perish like other Christians. And Antinogenes said to him: "Those whom you call dead have not died, but are in the heavens and rejoicing with the angels." The hind, which the merciful Antinogenes was feeding with his own hand, came to him shedding tears. While they were being tortured with various torments, an angel of God appeared to them. All were cut with the sword, first the priests and Antinogenes' associates, and finally Antinogenes himself. They died in 311.
