Calendar for July 3 - Martyr Methodius
In his youth, he dedicated himself to God and thus became an honorable vessel of the abode of the Holy Spirit. Elected bishop in the city of Patara Lycia. Seeing the delusions of those people who fell into the heresy of the famous church writer from Alexandria, Origen, about the Holy Trinity, angels, creation and the soul, Saint Methodius did not remain idle. He, like a good shepherd, burns Origen's heresy with the divine fire of his teaching. He was a very learned philosopher and theologian. Then the servants of the good man, the heathens and idolaters, were angry with him, seized him and put him to torture. In the end, they cut off his head with a sword. It was in Halkida Syria, in 311 AD. He left behind several valuable writings, the most famous of which is "Feast of Ten Maidens".
Holy martyrs Aristocles, Dimitrian and Athanasius. Venerable Naum of Ohrid. Saint Callistus I, Patriarch of Constantinople. Saint Leukius, bishop of Vruntisiopol. Blessed Studies. St. Peter's Day fast.
