From Tarsus of Cilicia, of senatorial origin. He was only 18 years old when he was subjected to torture for the Christian faith. For a whole year, Diocletian's governor led him from city to city, torturing him and persuading him to renounce his faith. The governor captured Julian's mother, who had been following them from afar, and sent her to advise her son to renounce Christ, but she encouraged him for three days not to do so. The torturers sewed Saint Julian into a bag with scorpions and snakes, and sand, and threw him into the sea. The sea washed his relics ashore, from where the Christians transferred them to Alexandria and gave them an honorable burial in 290. They were later transferred to Antioch. Numerous miracles occurred on them.
