Calendar for June 11 - Reverend Martyr Theodosia of Tire
In Caesarea Palestine, during the reign of Emperor Maximian, one day many Christians stood bound in front of the praetorium. The pious virgin Theodosia approached them and encouraged them to suffer martyrdom for Christ. The soldiers, hearing what she was saying, also took her to the judge. The judge ordered that a stone be placed around her neck and that she be thrown into the sea. But the angels pulled her alive to the shore. When she reported to the judge again, he handed her over to be cut. The next night, St. Theodosia appeared to her parents all in heavenly glory, surrounded by many girls who found salvation in the Lord by suffering for Him like she did. The saint rejoiced, because her parents kept dissuading her from confessing Christ. She died in 308.
