Calendar for June 11 Venerable Martyr Theodosia of Tyre
In Caesarea Palestine, during the time of Emperor Maximian, one day many Christians were standing bound before the praetorium. The pious virgin Theodosia approached them and encouraged them to suffer martyrdom for Christ. The soldiers, hearing what she said, took her before the judge. The judge ordered a stone to be tied around her neck and thrown into the sea. But angels pulled her alive to the shore. When she appeared to the judge again, he had her beheaded. The next night, Saint Theodosia appeared to her parents all in heavenly splendor, surrounded by many maidens who had found salvation in the Lord by suffering for Him like her. The saint rejoiced, because her parents had constantly dissuaded her from confessing Christ. She suffered in 308.
Commemoration of the First Ecumenical Council. Venerable Martyr Theodosia. Saint Alexander, Bishop of Alexandria. Saint John the Fool, Wonderworker of Ustyug. Holy Martyr Nan (John) of Thessalonica. Holy Martyr Andrew of Chios.
