Calendar for June 15 Holy Hieromartyr Erasmus of Ohrid
A native of Antioch. He lived during the reign of Emperors Diocletian and Maximian. He practiced asceticism on Mount Lebanon and God gifted him with miracles. He arrived in Ohrid as a bishop, preaching the Gospel. There, through prayer, he resurrected the son of a certain Anastas. In doing so, he baptized many other pagans and destroyed idol altars. He was accused to Emperor Maximian, who brought him before the copper statue of Zeus, forcing him to worship it. Through the prayer of Saint Erasmus, a dragon came out of the statue, which he then, also through prayer, killed. Seeing this, 20,000 souls were baptized. The emperor ordered them all to be killed, and Erasmus was thrown into prison from where an angel led him out. He died around 303. Near Ohrid, there is still a cave with a small church of Saint Erasmus.
Saint Nicephorus the Confessor, Patriarch of Constantinople. Saint New Martyr Constantine. Saint Martyr John the New of Soča.
