Calendar for June 20 - Holy priest-martyr Theodotus of Ankir
This martyr of Christ was a secret Christian. He was an innkeeper in Ankyra during the time of Emperor Diocletian. He helped the church and buried the bodies of holy martyrs. That's how he buried the bodies of 7 girls who suffered for Christ: Thecus, Alexandra, Claudia, Faina, Efrasia, Matrona and Julia, who drowned in the lake after being tortured. Saint Tecusa appeared in a dream to Theodore and told him to take out their bodies and bury them, which he did, in the dead of night, with one another. But that friend spies him to the judge, who tortures him, breaks his teeth with stones, and turns his body into wounds. It was cut in 303. His body was buried by a priest. A temple was later built there. Saint Theodotus of Ankyr was beheaded for Christ on this day.
Venerable Danilo Skitski. Holy Martyrs Kyriaki, Valeria and Maria. Martyr Markel, Pope of Rome.
