Calendar for March 16 - Holy Martyrs Eutropius, Cleonix and Basilisk
Young men, companions of Saint Theodore Tyrone with whom they were in prison. Eutropius and Cleonicus were born brothers, and Basilisk was related to Saint Theodore. After the glorious death of Saint Theodore, they remained in prison for a long time, due to the replacement of the imperial governor in Amasia. The new governor tried in vain to win over Eutropius. First he invited him to have dinner with him. He rejected it with the words from the Psalm: "Blessed is the husband who does not follow the counsel of the wicked." Then he offered him a great treasure, and he reminded him that Judas lost his soul because of the silver. After the torture they put them to, they crucified the brothers Eutropius and Cleonicus on two crosses, for which they gave praise to Christ, and Basiliskus was cut with a sword. They surrendered their souls to the Lord in 308.
