He was baptized in the name of the Most Holy and Life-Giving Trinity by the Archangel Michael himself, who invisibly accompanied him until the end of his earthly life. From an early age, he yearned for a spiritual life. His parents forced him to marry, but he brought his wife to the faith of Christ, telling her about the spiritual life as better and more beautiful than the physical life, and then his parents. He lived with his wife as with a sister. Soon both his parents and wife died, and he withdrew from worldly life and completely gave himself up to fasting, prayer and contemplation of God.
