Calendar for March 20 - Holy 7 priest-martyrs of Kherson
Basil, Ephrem, Eugenius, Elpidius, Agathodorus, Eterius and Kapiton. All of them were bishops in Kherson, at different times. Vasilije resurrected the son of a prince and was dragged by his legs through the streets until he died. Ephraim was cut with a sword. Eugenius, Elpidius and Agathodorus were killed with sticks and stones. Eterius lived peacefully in the time of Constantine the Great. The wild Scythians asked Kapiton for a sign so that they would believe in Christ. With the omophorus on him and God in his mind and heart, having crossed himself, Kapiton entered the fire, remained in it for about an hour, and came out unharmed. Everyone shouted: "There is one God" and the entire city and the surrounding area were baptized. Much was said about this miracle at the Nicene Council. The Scythians drowned Kapiton in the Dnieper. All of them suffered at the beginning of the 4th century.
Venerable Emilian. Easter fast.
