Calendar for March 22 - Holy 40 Martyrs of Sevastija - Mladenci
They were all soldiers in the Roman army. During the persecution of Christians under Emperor Licinius, they were stoned, but the stones were returned. The beaten torturers tied them up and threw them into the lake in the terrible frost. So that no one would deny Christ, they heated the bathroom by the lake. One gets out of the water and goes to the bathroom. But at night, an unusual light fell from the sky that warmed the water in the lake and with it 39 wreaths that fell on the heads of the martyrs. Seeing this, a watchman from the shore confessed Christ and entered the water instead of the traitor, and the fortieth crown fell on his head. Then they beat their shins and threw them into the water. On the third night, the local bishop and the people pick up their bodies, which were glowing like candles, and bury them honorably. This would be in the year 320.
