Calendar for March 28 The Holy Martyr Agapius and Others
The Holy Martyrs Agapius, Publius, Timolaeus, Romulus, the two Alexanders, and the two Dionysius, suffered under the ruler Urban, during the reign of Emperor Diocletian, in Caesarea of Palestine. All except Agapius were very young, not yet Christians, nor had they ever been baptized with water. Their baptism was in blood. These 7 young men saw how Christians were tortured, in fire, on gallows, how they were thrown to wild beasts, and with what patience they endured these torments, and they were inflamed with zeal for Christ, tied their own hands upside down, and went to Urban and said to him: “We are Christians too.” They were joined by a prominent citizen of that city, who had already suffered for Christ and who further inflamed their love for Christ, Agapius. They were beheaded in 303.
