Calendar for March 29 - Holy Apostle Aristobulus
One of the Seventy, brother of the Holy Apostle Barnabas, born in Cyprus. He followed the apostle Paul and traveled many countries with him, preaching the Gospel. Apostle Paul mentions him in the Epistle to the Romans: "Greet Aristobulus" (16, 10). He was with the Apostle when he wrote the Epistle to the Romans, and therefore greets his relatives. Apostle Paul made him bishop of Britannia. From that wild, vicious people, Aristobulus suffered great torment, misery and mischief. They beat him, dragged him through the streets, mocked him. Nevertheless, by the power of God's grace, this holy man enlightened that nation, baptized them in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, built churches, ordained priests and deacons. In the end, he peacefully rested in the Lord.
Holy Martyr Savin. Martyrs Trofim and Tal. Easter fast.
